Three Songs, No Flash!: Your Ultimate Guide to Concert Photography by Loe Beerens

For those familiar with concert photography, '3 songs, no flash' is the standard rule for all photographers at gigs. It might seem like such a short time, but it is within that stipulated time that we have seen some of the best concert photography around. In this series, we put the 'flash' on these ladies and gentlemen behind the lenses. Aloysius Lim is a name synonymous with gig photography in Singapore. You'll see him at most, or all the big shows and concerts of all sorts! He is the man that all photographers look up to so it is no wonder that he is the mentor for the Baybeats Budding Photographer Programme. Just like all the photographers on this series, they have interesting origin stories on how they came to in this field - and Aloysius is no different!

You might have heard of the three song rule. First three songs, no flash! But what exactly is the three song rule? Who came up with the concept and what can you do as concert photographer to make the photo pit experience a great one. As the main photographer for Bandwagon , Rueven is a regular contributor and mentor to the rest of the team. My name is Rueven Tan, not-so-good photographer, still improving.

  1. During concerts, the photographers, only having 36 shots available per reel of film became concerned with the lighting and started using flash to light up the artists on stage.

  2. Life on mission joining the everyday mission of god which of these questions is a scientific question about skateboarding
